Lextechies Meetup

In the first year after its outset, the club started off with an introduction to global technological developments and their legal issues via the "Lextechies Meetup”. This event is a monthly event that was held by the club to expose students from the faculty and to discuss the new technology advancements around the globe along with any legal issues that may arise accordingly.

Various topics were brought up during the meetup, and one of the many examples is the topic on 'Internet of Things’ (IoT), which drew a lot of interest from the students and faculty, boosting the club's popularity and marking the club's first footprint in UM.

Lexcode

Following the Lextechies Meetup, the club ventured into organising workshops to garner the interest of the students not only in physical technologies but also internal computer programmes. Henceforth, JusTech co-hosted a Coding Workshop with the Asian Law Student Association (ALSA) and The UM App Club, known as the LexCode 2019. The workshop was with the goal of teaching beginners the fundamentals of coding and relevant programming languages such as Python. This workshop was also part of the Student Exchange Programme that was held by ALSA, allowing students from foreign countries like Indonesia and Australia.

Justech Law Reform Competition 2021

In the past tenure, UM JusTech launched our first flagship event — Cryptocurrency Law Reform Competition — that allowed participants to engage with renowned industry experts such as Thomson Reuters, Chee Yuen & Co Advocates and Solicitors and the trading platform, Tokenize Exchange. The law reform competition also succeeded in bringing together highly qualified peers with similar aspirations to engage in discussions and provide quantifiable suggestions on improving Malaysian cryptocurrency regulations. Despite its infancy, we drew over 20 teams worldwide, including participants from the University of Oxford and University College London.

Graphic Design in One Click 2021

In the first half of this tenure, UM JusTech not only organised workshops on the technicality of technologies, but also a graphic design workshop called "Graphic Design in One Click" to touch on the creative sides of the students. The goal of this workshop was to help our university students enhance their skills in the application of design technology by instilling the value of innovation and creativity, as well as increasing their confidence in communicating messages through visual design. The workshop was also designed to help students learn graphic design techniques using cutting-edge design platforms like Canva.

Infographics

In addition to our past events, the club has designed infographics on social media to educate not only our university's students but also the general public, on present-day technological developments and related legal issues. Not to mention that the research by the members of our club has definitely expanded our horizons and deeply benefited us through gaining insights into global technical knowledge such as self-driving cars, space laws, and many other topics. To feed your curiosity, all these infographics is visible through our Instagram and other social media platforms.
